Teams (Elite)

Players that choose to compete for the Fire Lacrosse Club display and embrace a set of characteristics that are consistent with the focus, emphasis, and requirements of elite lacrosse including:

  1. recognition that character is the essence of academic, athletic, and life success;
  2. exceptional academic performance at each and every grade level;
  3. making a priority commitment to lacrosse, usually over other competitive sports, or at least have balanced their priority commitment to lacrosse with another sport, if a multi-sport athlete;
  4. Strong commitment from their family to support the player's lacrosse training and competition activities and schedule;
  5. having a strong interest and desire in playing collegiate-level lacrosse;
  6. having demonstrated a willingness to invest the time and effort necessary to achieve their stated competitive goals and objectives.

Each player selected to play for a Fire Lacrosse Club elite team receives unmatched benefits and advantages by being exposed to the following services and activities:

  1. Expert field and indoor (box) position-specific and team level coaching;
  2. Expert performance training, testing, tracking, and reporting;
  3. Expert sports psychology/mental conditioning training and support;
  4. Participation at competitive elite tournaments;
  5. Participation in indoor (box) developmental leagues and clinics;
  6. Participation in intensive field and indoor practices;
  7. Uniform which includes a reversible, 2 pair of shorts, and a shooter shirt.

Elite Teams Structure and Emphases

Basic knowledge of all components of transitional play. Introduction to the relationship beteween competition, commitment to athletic accomplishment, and educational goals and aspirations.
Silver 2014 Basic skills at upper limits of age group with focus on precision. Application in game situations consistently effective. Use of positional moves and techniques in game situations support effective offensive and defensive schemes. Ability to capitalize on situations and transitions using skills and knowledge. Beginning to formulate recruitment plan, identification of educational goals, and initiation of communication with college coaches.
Gold 2013 Mastery of basic skills. Use of positional techniques for competitive advantage. Controls flow of game through application of skills in all situations and transitions. Active execution of recruitment plan, exploration of alternatives and options, and use of decision-making tools to finalize college objectives.
