The Ice program is one of the first elite-level indoor lacrosse teams in the United States. The program is also the first elite indoor lacrosse program to be certified by the American Indoor Lacrosse Association. The AILA is a membership organization dedicated to the growth of indoor lacrosse throughout the United States by training, educating, and developing players, coaches, referees, parents, and fans of the sport. The AILA provides high-quality programming, leadership and value to its membership; encourages independent, experimental play to produce a more confident and creative individual through its player-centered approach; and teaches skill development; sportsmanship and team work in a safe, fun, and competitive environment.
Coaches, players, and parents now uniformly recognize the benefits of learning the skills, techniques, and strategies of indoor (box) lacrosse. The Ice program is designed and structured to expose the serious lacrosse player to the fast-paced, fiercely competitive, NLL/FIL-style indoor lacrosse game at the elite level. Practices and games are played on a hockey-rink-sized surface surrounded by dasherboards and Plexiglas. NLL-sized goals, shot clocks, and NLL-based rules and regulations are used. Program coaches are certified by the American Indoor Lacrosse Association and teach the skills associated with creative stickwork, pinpoint passing, acrobatic goalkeeping and rugged defensive play, which are universally recognized as the hallmarks of the indoor player and game.
