Banta Commits to D1 Providence!

Banta to join Olsen at top DI Big East program

Peter Banta, a four-year starter on the Tampa Bay Fire's U-19/Gold team, and a member of Plant High School's WFLL championship teams, has just confirmed his commitment to attend DI prgram Providence College. Peter will be joing Evan Olsen, a former Fire player, who started at attack as a freshman on last year's Providence squad.

Providence will be joining the new Big East lacrosse conference in 2010 which includes powerhouses Syracuse, Georgetown, Notre Dame, St. John's, Rutgers, and Villanova.  The head coach of the Providence team is Chris Burdick, who has been at the helm for over 10 years.  Providence has been in the top 10 NCAA scoring defenses in 4 of the last 6 years and academically the school is ranked #2 in the north for schools with masters programs.  Located in Providence RI, the school opened in 1919.
