Dear Parents and Players:
We are about to embark on our 2009 campaign with tremendous anticipation, excitement, and enthusiasm. Although we’ve had to endure a few rain-outs, we’ve all been working hard getting ready so that we can to compete at our highest personal level against the best talent Florida has to offer.
It is not a mere coincidence that we start our elite season by competing at the Wounded Warrior Project Tournament. In fact, we cannot think of a more appropriate way to honor our great sport than by recognizing the many servicemen and women who are asked and expected to perform at their highest level every day – protecting our rights and freedoms as Americans. In conjunction with the Florida Fightin’ Possums, the Wounded Warrior Project is providing this extraordinary venue so that we can promote lacrosse in Florida as we honor our brave soldiers and sailors.
As you finalize your preparations for this first tournament of the competitive elite season, we ask that you take a moment to reflect on what great sacrifices our military personnel make every day. And as you step onto the field next weekend, representing your team – Gold, Silver, Red, White, or Select - with pride, dignity, and humility, be mindful of the wonderful opportunities we have been given as Americans.
Sincerely,
Bill Shatz
