Eric Dance, Garrett German, and CJ Caselli earn athletic honor

The Tampa Bay Fire is proud to announce that US Lacrosse has selected three of its long-time players for High School All-American honors!  Eric Dance, Defense, Freedom High School, Garrett German, Attack, Plant High School, and CJ Casselli, Attack, Plant High School, have been starters for the Fire’s Gold/U-19 team.   Eric and Garrett have been playing for the team since its inaugural season in 2006.  All three players have been heavily recruited by national colleges and universities and will be attending school in the Fall.

Eric will be attending DIII powerhouse and perennial national champion Salisbury College, Garrett will be suiting up for Florida State University and CJ will be playing for Florida this upcoming season.  These players are the first to be recognized as High School All-Americans from the West Florida Lacrosse League.

As products of the Fire’s vaunted player development system, these players have demonstrated the positive effects of hard work, passion, and perseverance.  Equally, each player has a strong academic performance track record in addition to their athletic accomplishments.

In addition to being West Florida’s only elite lacrosse team, the Tampa Bay Fire is the only off-season lacrosse program in West Florida to place high school lacrosse players into top colleges and universities.  With this latest announcement, The Fire is also the only off-season team to contribute to the development of West Florida’s High School lacrosse All-Americans.

Fire Players Selected to 2009 Team Florida

Seven players lead the way in Tampa lacrosse

The Fire’s impact on lacrosse player development throughout the Greater Tampa Bay region over the last 4 years is exemplified by the growing number of its current and past players being selected for Team Florida, the only state-wide all-star lacrosse team.  Competing at four different age levels, Fire players were selected to the respective teams following an extremely rigorous weekend of skills assessment and evaluation by a combination of college and high school coaches.  The following players were announced as members of 2009 Team Florida:

  • Kevin Losier, Goal – U-19
  • MJ Lorenzo, Midfield – U-17
  • Will Daniel, Midfield – U-17
  • Connor Whipple, Attack - U-15
  • Randy Krieg, Defense – U-15
  • Mike Myers, Defense – U-13
  • Jackson Costello, Midfield – U-13

The results of the Fire’s vaunted player development system are indisputable as the program, which is the only elite program in West Florida, has acheived recognition as one of the strongest player development programs in the state.  In support of this fact, virtually every player selected to Team Florida from West Florida has been trained under the Fire’s development system.  Unquestionably, most of the West Florida players selected have benefited from the Fire’s intensive curriculum, structured coaching program, and comprehensive training system.

Team Florida's U-13 and U-15 teams will be travelling to Hershey, PA to compete in the Chocolatetown Shootout, and the U-17 & U-19 squads will be travelling to the University of Delaware for the Battle of the Hotbeds.  Both tournaments are held in July and do not conflict with the Fire’s tournament season.
